Location

Nestled in the very heart of the Lakes, Grasmere is a truly delightful place for a holiday in peaceful surroundings.

With the views beginning at home, you’ll be tempted to stroll around Rydal and Grasmere lakes or perhaps venture up Silver How and Helm Crag. Rising behind the property is the impressive Fairfield Horseshoe – keen walkers will be spoilt for choice.

However, a holiday in Grasmere isn’t just for walkers. This historic Lake District village is famous for its connections with the poet William Wordsworth. He lived in the village at Dove Cottage which is open to the public as part of the Wordsworth Museum. The National Trust’s Allen Banks can also be visited and there are several art galleries in Grasmere, particularly the Heaton Cooper Studio which displays the Cooper family’s famous work as well as that of guest artists.

The village centre has all the facilities you’ll need during your self-catering holiday in the heart of the Lakes, from local shops and a supermarket to quaint tea rooms and acclaimed restaurants, including the Good Food Guide listed Jumble Room and the Michelin Star Forestside. The famous Swan has a cosy bar and Tweedies offers an impressive range of craft beer and live music.

Grasmere is ideally situated for exploring the Lake District with Rydal Water, Ambleside and Lake Windermere to the south, or Keswick and Derwent Water to the north. The breathtaking Langdale Valley and the Lake District’s third largest lake, Coniston, are also easily accessible by car.
