1st: Family Adventures with The Lakes Mountaineer, Langdale.

7th : Picnic at Acorn Bank, near Penrith

Wanting that perfect way to celebrate the Kings coronation with all your family and friends? Pack up a picnic or treat yourself to a food from the café at Acorn Bank to celebrate King Charles’ II coronation over the Bank Holiday Weekend! No need to book, just make your way over to Acorn Bank. After a day of fun in the sun (hopefully) why not relax and chill on the balcony of Heron Beck and watch the world go by, with a lovely view of Grasmere lake.

25th: Forty Farms, Exhibition at Windermere Jetty Museum , Bowness on Windemere

From the Herdwick-grazed Lake District commons to the big-sky Solway marshes, the book is a visual record of farming at a period of profound change. 3rd: Wild Singing Weekend, Borrowdale

Do you love a little sing song? The Wild Singing Weekend is for you! 17th: Keswick Market, Keswick

From food stalls to clothes and crafts with everything else in between, the Keswick Market is the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon! Have a nice stroll around the market then head to one of the beautiful cafes for a bite to eat before heading down to the lake to soak in the scenery and beautiful view (maybe even with an ice cream too). After a lovely day out with all the gang, head back to Heron Beck to spend some more quality time with everyone, and enjoy any goodies you may have bought from the market!

18th: The Lakes Classic Car Show, Kendal

Car mad? We have found the spot for you! With 175 classic cars on display, head down to The Staveley Recreation Ground and spend Father’s Day admiring all the cars, motor bikes, trucks and tractors in between enjoying the attractions and games, and be sure to enter the Charity Pit Stop Challenge competition! Kendal is just a short drive from Heron Beck, why not make a pit stop to Booths or Morrisons in Kendal then create a banquet good enough for the King after a fun-filled day, as I’m sure everyone will be ready for a feast! 9th: Cockermouth Indoor Sunday Market and Car Boot

What is known as Cumbria’s largest indoor market and car boot, Cockermouth offers a weekly market to showcase locally produced food, like home baked cakes, crafts and makers of Cumbria and the borders. The onsite restaurant offers a range of foods and drinks to keep you hydrated, ready and raring to go! 20th: Blonde Bombshells of 1943, Theatre by the Lake, Keswick

Musicals are a great way to sit and enjoy time together whilst learning lots about history! Head back to the 1940s with the blonde bombshells and see how the prepared to dodge the bombs of Hitlers and make their way through the most dangerous performance of their lives! Heron Beck, our holiday cottage it just a 15 minute drive from Keswick so you could spend the day in the cottage before heading out for a night at the theatre, or enjoy a day out in Keswick beforehand! The Summer Holidays, a wonderful time with lots to do and places lovely and busy!

There is always lots to do in the summer here in the Lake District, for sure, where possible we’d recommend you head out and consider climbing a fell or mountain and you’ll see beautiful views but also we believe you can really appreciate the lakes from up high! Don’t feel confident heading out without guidance? Book a guided walk with The Lakes Mountaineer who daily has walks and scrambles available to book onto!

Wanting to explore without getting lost or a guide? Why not try out Aira Force, a lovely walk with dramatic waterfalls and beautiful scenery throughout with lots of spots to stop and have a picnic, or even head over the road to the Ullswater lake where you can settle down for a few hours, play games, read a book or even enjoy a swim in the lake! 31st: Experience a night-time wildlife adventure, Grange-Over-Sands

Here in the lakes, many people really are one with nature and the perfect way to experience that is spending the night with the wildlife, who doesn’t love adventures? We certainly do! A walk through the woods, identifying all the wonderful wildlife we have, including the deer’s and foxes, then gather around the fire pit with roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate or even soup, whatever you choose! Ready to settle down and spy on more nocturnal wildlife! After hours of adventure, make sure you head back to Heron Beck to get your head down and you might just spot some wildlife you’ve learnt about around our beautiful cottage!
