Wanting the perfect start to Mother’s Day?

After a week in our beautiful cottage exploring different places of the Lake District, why not head out to the Rayrigg Meadows in Windermere for a coffee morning taking in the breath-taking views of the Lake District. After the perfect Mothering morning, you could head down into Windermere to find somewhere for a lovely Sunday Roast – After all no mother wants to be cooking on Mothering Sunday! After spending the morning sat on the patio with a cuppa, head to Blackwell in Bowness-on-Windermere where you can learn all about influential Cumbrians – past and present! Maddy Humberstone – Artist and Activist, see how she uses different types of art and activism together. Don’t worry children, Blackwell have something for everyone, you can explore nature and become a wildlife investigator following trails and tracks in and around Blackwell. After, head over to the Arts & Craft Club to create something magical! Continue your investigating skills in and around our accommodation to look out for the red squirrels and spot any wildlife! Exhibitions are the go-to when the weather is dull, or you are all hiked out! Dorothy Wordsworth’s Story, shown at the Dove Cottage, based in Grasmere is available to visit from 23rd October 21 – Summer 22. The exhibition is just a short walk, or drive from our superbly located cottage rental – available to you! Look into Dorothy special treasures and find out how she was more than just William Wordsworth’s Sister and what it means to be a woman living in Grasmere today. Ever wanted to go for a hike, but not known where to start? Guided walks could be your saviour!

We have a great accommodation for you to stay whilst you try different guided walks set up by the Volunteers of The Lake District National Park Authority. The Coffins, Caves and Crags walks are on April 5th, May 19th, June 11th, guided walks are perfect for exploring your local surroundings as this walk starts in Ambleside, going to Loughrigg through to White Moss Common returning to the start alone the Coffin Route! Afterwards make sure to relax those muscles with lots of bubbles in our stunning free-standing bath – You decide whether the bubbles are in your glass, the bath, or both! The Forest and Feast event on Whinlatter Pass is just right for those who are one with nature! Nature and our beautiful cottage rental come hand in hand, as it is located perfectly for nature spotting as well as warming up by the log burning stove after long days in the forest and climbing those fells. I don’t know about you but seeing all the sheep around Cumbria is just mesmerising. Got 2 hours spare on the 9th of April? Head over to The Armitt Museum in Rydal for Barry McKay’s Spring Talk: Shepherds’ Guide. The 2-hour talk explores the history of the Shepherds Guide and the different methods he adopted to demonstrate various aspects of the flock of sheep. Edge your bets and try spot sheep out from the larger lounge windows of our beautiful cottage rental. Want to spend a day or two winding down, relaxing both the mind and body? Why not head to the perfect Yoga Retreat in Windermere! With a wonderful lake view and if the weather allows it, spend the day out in the sunshine having some you time! Charity Challenges are so common now and helps give people the motivation to start something new. In Aid of MS Society, why not get the group together and challenge each other to the 10 in 10, or 5 in 5 challenges! These challenges including completing 5 or 10 Fells in 5 or 10 hours. The Lakes Escape has the ideal accommodation for you to stay at whilst trying lots of new challenges during your week stay. The cottage rental can accommodate all the group and the equipment needed when tackling fells. It even has those close-by needed pubs to have a drink to celebrate your achievements. Not an outdoorsy person or did not expect the constantly changing weather? Do not threat, we have you covered! The Lake District accommodates for everyone – see below for just a few indoor activities that could be perfect for you and your family or friends.

The Beatrix Potter House is always a great to attraction to visit when up in the Lake District! Open 10am – 4pm all year round – Perfect for all types of weather! With lots to see, read and do inside Beatrix House, spend hours losing yourself in the world of Potter – Beatrix Potter that is!

Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum is a short drive from the cottage rental; open Easter till October from 10am – 5pm. The Quarry and Mining Rooms offer great products and memorabilia, whilst also demonstrating an educational value throughout. Spend the day climbing through the caves and mines of Threlkeld and why not ride a reconstructed mine train, round dips and bends allowing unusual views of the quarry front!

Did you know that Keswick is the home of the first pencil, Visit Derwent Pencil Museum to learn the history of pencils, discover the largest colour pencil, miniature pencil sculptures and loads more! Afterwards you could always put pencil to paper and sketch your take of the breath-taking view you see out our accommodation! Make sure to sign and date your drawing because if you were to leave your beautiful drawing behind, we may have to find the perfect spot in the cottage to display it!
